Alexander is the founder and for over 25 years, artistic director of the «Chicago Human Rhythm Project». His performing career as a rhyhtm artist spans over 30 years and includes numerous awards for his choreographies and his work. Among others, an Emmy nomination for his production «Juba!». He is regarded as an expert in the «Morton Gould's Tap Dance Concerto» and celebrates solo appearances with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2004, he founded his ensemble «BAM!». Lane was awarded the National Endowment for the Arts' American Masterpieces Program as «Chicagoan of the Year» and was awarded the "City of Chicago's 50th Cultural Leader in 2008" by the City of Chicago.
